I Love to See the Temple

Blake and I took our monthly trip to the Houston Temple on Saturday afternoon. Grandma and Papa watch Sammie while we are there. Sometimes they do chores around the house, sometimes they go to the movies...but today? They came to the temple! As we were walking out, there they were! When Sammie saw me, she said, "Mama, you don't look like an angel?" Papa was telling her that everyone wears white inside the temple...she was so confused as to why I was wearing black!

Mardi Gras Galveston

Today, we picked up Grandma Janice and Papa Holiday from their week-long cruise. Galveston is celebrating the final days of Mardi Gras. We headed straight to the seawall for the celebrations.
It was a beautiful day!
Sammie loved playing on the rocks as we headed out to the water. One quick photo before the waves crashed onto the rocks.
Alright, time to get down to business. Teaching Sammie the art of getting beads! The first few were put around my neck...
But, she soon learned the glory of bead placement and in no time her own neck was full. "Beads!!! Please!! Thank You!"
She really hates the loud noises.
The Children's Parade was a success! This girl got a ridiculous amount of beads! And candy, and cups and stuffed animals. Galveston certainly didn't hold out on us.

Tulips!

After 2 months cooling in the fridge and 1 month buried in Texas soil...my tulips are coming out to say hello! I would've never guessed they would have survived!

Little Lady Bed

Samantha just keeps getting bigger and bigger! We decided this weekend to convert her Big-Girl Bed (toddler bed) into a full-size Little Lady Bed. We were secretly hoping that this would keep her from waking up in the middle of the night and ending up in our bed around 5:30am. So far, it was just wishful thinking.

Little Ballerina

Today was Samantha's very 1st dance class. For Christmas Grandma & Papa gave Sammie dance lessons. We bought new leotards, tights, skirt, ballet slippers and tap shoes. I wasn't sure if Sam would actually listen and follow directions...but turns out...I had nothing to worry about! She did awesome! Ms Susie is her teacher and led her in all the ballet positions and steps. They started with a stretch and warm up. Then they did bar work and different combinations across the floor. I've gotta learn the names of these steps! There was plenty of twirls and curtsies after every move...little girls are so fun to watch! They love to be on their toes!
At the end of the ballet session, they did a group activity.

Then, it was time to put on their tap shoes! Sammie has been wearing these for the past 24 hours straight...my scratched up wood floors are proof of that. They made raindrop sounds that Sam said sounded like fireworks.

It was a great day and quite an emotional parenting moment to watch her be such a big girl!
